The La Griglia Restaurant is located in via Corso Umberto 54, one of the most beautiful streets in Taormina. The restaurant has been created within the remains of an ancient building, and was originally an old stable where the lords left their carriages, then it become an aristocratic residence, in the heart of that Taormina that gradually became the destination for an elite tourism.

These were also the years of the Etna-Taormina International Poetry Prize which was held in the winter months at the Hotel San Domenico and the years that saw the birth of the International Film Festival at the Ancient Theatre in Taormina, where Donatello's Davids were awarded to the greatest personalities of international world cinema. All the most important actors passed through Taormina to receive the little golden statues, including Ingrid Bergman, Federico Fellini, Vittorio Gasmann, Rita Haywort and Michelangelo Anonioni.

Converted from a residence into a splendid restaurant, the establishment is characterised, from its beginning, by a sincere consideration for the materials available in our area. The restaurant has been a reference point for many famous personalities, who highly appreciated its cuisine, during the years of the International Film Festival.
