The La Griglia Restaurant, situated in the heart of corso Umberto, at no. 54, is a traditional setting, with character and atmosphere, with a large window providing an impressive view over the ancient Roman Naumachie.

The cuisine is sea food and regional, with dishes based on fresh fish caught daily, together with the main produce of the island, such as the vegetables and oils, herbs and spices, which bring out the flavour. The La Griglia restaurant also has an excellent selection of wines, with more than 100 selected labels, as well as grappas, dessert and sweet wines. The rooms has a seating capacity for a total of 80 persons. The La Griglia Restaurant, now well-known in Italy and throughout the world, has its origins in the late 1970s when it was born from the love of the Intelisano brothers for good food, which they cultivated through long years of work in the catering business.

In its refined and elegant environment, with the fresh and light flavours of quality cuisine, it has welcomed artists, musicians and Italian and international actors to its tables during the years of the Great Film Festival. The high level of quality and the professionalism of the chefs guarantee a variety of culinary choices, providing the best of traditional Italian and Mediterranean cuisine. In this small corner of Paradise, our guests have the pleasure of tasting cuisine that is the fruit of imagination, expertise and the seasons!!! The main features are the genuine, natural ingredients and the care that we take over the selection of the products, highlighting the fragrances of the land of Sicily, such as basil, mint, jasmine, lemon, fennel and rosemary, together with a variation of vegetables and other products. The blend of simple, traditional recipes and the healthy ingredients guarantees you to enjoy regional dishes that can only be found in this corner of Paradise.

Bread from Castelmola, salami from Sant’Angelo, Ragusa cheeses, provole and ricotta infornata, which also accompanies certain first courses. Blue fish and a selection from sardines to lobsters, depending on the days, to ensure the freshness. The La Griglia restaurant has created an original combination of impeccable quality, fresh food and an elegant environment, where Italian cuisine is expertly revised by the chef's Sicilian culture to create new ideas and approaches that are particularly suited to younger guests.

As Edoardo Raspelli said : Here is an excellent grill in an old building, an extremely pleasant little restaurant in every season. You are, in fact, on a beautiful, bright veranda with open windows, looking over the rooftops and green remnants of Taormina Sopra. Above your heads is a web of bougainvillea and your tables are lit by the light of a candle. Actually, it is not a dark place, but quite romantic and even seductive. The food, too, is every bit as seductive and will leave an excellent memory of your trip to Sicily: sauries, onion sauce, pasta with sea urchins, sword fish rolls, "nature" or with a bit of tomato...Extremely friendly service, particularly from the effervescent owner.
